« I’m all of you listening. Jeanne Moreau a life of theater »

At 11 am to 6 pm, the 16th of september (last entry at 5:15 pm)
This exhibition explores the career of a woman who lived the history of the Festival from 1947 to 2011, beside Jean Vilar or Étienne Daho, with the words of Henrich von Kleist or Alfred de Musset, and in roles as different as Nathalie or Célestine. Even in 2014, her image appeared in the Cour d’honneur with the band Têtes Raides.

Cabu, who was known and recognised for his illustrations in Hara-kiri, Charlie Hebdo, or the Canard Enchaîné, also used his talents as an exceptional cartoonist to sketch the world of theatre. From the 60s onwards, Cabu went to the theatre several times per week. He was a passionate theatre-goer. Re-discover him throught a 34 drawings travel.

Choregraphic strolling

Grand Avignon Opera Ballet
Around the Love theme, the Ballet offer you to join it for a strolling representation.
- The love triangle, illustrated by a song of the « Jules et Jim » movie, sung by Jeanne Moreau, interpreted by three dancers will begin this journey in the hall stairecase. In the “Mouette” room, on the Erik Sati music, the first and the third « Gymnopédies », a woman locked in the everyday life and routine of her couple, asks how breath again, one solution is offered to her…
- On the door steps, the expression of the bodies that knot and unknot, that escape and hold back on the energy of the music of Gluck’s « Danse des Furies » ( « Orphée et Eurydice » Opera extract) enable you to find the Ballet (12 dancers) again to close this little journey to discover a place through dance and music.

Scenographies at Cloître des Carmes

The Cloître des Carmes has been one of the magical places of the Festival d’Avignon since 1967. It hosted over 160 shows in its premises. How do the artists use this heritage setting to imagine the scenography and share their universe with the audience?
